The ornament is hand-painted on the inside of the hand-blown glass bulb with oil paint using the “Reverse Painting” technique. The foreground is painted first and the background is applied last. All the painting is done from the inside through the hole at the top of a glass ball using special narrow brushes. There are several layers of paint applied to achieve the effect of depth. The card explaining the technique is included.
The Kiss - Gustav Klimt
This hand-painted glass ornament captures the intense beauty and masterful technique of the original Gustav Klimt oil painting, The Kiss. The painting depicts a couple surrounded by a gold blanket and ornaments sharing a moment of shear passion - the perfect kiss.
Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) was one of the most innovative and controversial artists of the early twentieth century. Influenced by European avant-garde movements represented in the annual Secession exhibitions, Klimt's mature style combines richly decorative surface patterning with complex symbolism and allegory, often with overtly erotic content.
The ornament is 5 inches long and 2.5 inches in diameter, petite tear-drop shape.
It has a gold metal cap and a gold ribbon on a top that allows for display on a Christmas tree or a decorative stand.
It is packaged in a red velvet gift box with satin-lined inside.
It is a true collector's item. A beautiful present for an art lover.
